ANNUAL FIRE ALARM INSPECTION DEC. 1 and 2, 2009 Our annual fire alarm inspections will take place Tuesday, December 1, 2009, and Wednesday, December 2, 2009, between 5:30PM – 8:30PM. There is a schedule below that defines when each building will be inspected.

The Statcomm inspection staff must obtain entry to your residence for a very brief moment to insure that your unit fire alarm is functioning properly. Someone must be home during this time to allow access by Statcomm.

Please note that failure to provide access to your residence during the scheduled time will result in an automatic $50 fine - there are NO exceptions.

Please mark your calendars now, and make arrangements to have someone at your home during this time if you will not be there.

GARBAGE COLLECTION UPDATE (9/25/09) You may not be aware, but it has always been the policy of Allied Waste throughout Fremont to not pick up containers that are overfilled. When their drivers attempt to empty overfilled containers, there will often be spills which create problems for everyone.

One of the reasons for overfilled containers is that many residents are still not separating recyclables (glass, paper, aluminum, and marked plastics) from regular garbage. Please increase your efforts to do this separation and place the recyclables in your gray container.

If you have more garbage (that is, something other than recyclables) than can fit in your container, we suggest you talk to one of your neighbors about space available in their containers or call Allied Waste Management in Fremont for instructions on how to get this excess material picked up.

In order to reduce this problem, Allied Waste and the HOA have agreed that as of Thursday, October 1, 2009, overfilled containers will NOT be picked up any longer. There are NO EXCEPTIONS.

Your HOA and Allied Waste Management appreciate your cooperation.

POOL NOW CLOSED, REOPENS MEMORIAL DAY, 2010 As is usual at Andalusia, the pool heater is turned on around Memorial Day (Monday, May 31, 2010) and turned off around Halloween (Saturday, October 30, 2010). The spa will remain heated throughout the year.

POOL & SPA CHANGES (9/7/09) You have probably noticed that some changes have been made recently to the pool and spa area. We have had a sharp increase in the number of non-residents using our pool and spa, often as late as 1AM. In order to prevent this unauthorized trespassing and usage, we have added an extension to the gates into the pool area to prevent access without a key, and posted new signs.

We are also increasing the enforcement of rules for using the pool and spa. As a reminder, the following requirements (which are part of the CC&Rs and "Residents Handbook") will be enforced:

1. You must have the gate key with you to prove you are entitled to entry.
2. You must provide your Andalusia resident name and address when asked.
3. You may allow up to 4 guests to use the pool, and you must be with those guests at all times.
4. Pool and spa hours are 7AM to 10PM. No one is allowed to use the facilities from 10PM to 7AM.

RECREATION CENTER RESERVATION PROCESS (Updated 9/14/09) Effective October 27, 2006, access to the Recreation Center was restricted due to damage caused by residents.

If you wish to use the Center for a birthday party, baby shower, dinner or for any other non-commercial event, please make a reservation through CMS. The current reservation request form can be found in the "Forms" section on the left side of this page. There is a $60 Rental Fee and a refundable $150 Cleaning Deposit - THESE FEES MUST BE PAID AT LEAST 3 DAYS BEFORE YOUR RENTAL DATE! Once you have made the reservation and paid the fees, you will be issued a key that can only be used for your reservation.

Please leave the Center in the same clean condition as it was before your event, so other residents can use it after your event. Also, please separate garbage and food waste from recyclables (glass, plastic, paper, aluminum). Two collapsible containers have been provided, as well as plastic bags to be used for your refuse. Place the bag(s) with recyclables ONLY in the gray recycling bin in Rec Center, and bag(s) with food waste and garbage in the blue bin. Do not mix recyclables and food waste in the same bag! Do not overfill either container - if you have excess, take the bags back to your home's containers.

In October 2006, the locks for the pedestrian gates and Rec Center restrooms were re-keyed to match the pool gate key. You should already have this key, but if you don't and need a key, please contact CMS. A $6.00 fee will be charged.

EMERGENCY REPAIR PROCESS If you have an after-hours emergency involving safety or structural problems, please call the main CMS number (510-791-2630), and follow the directions. The answering service will contact the Manager On Call, who will then arrange for appropriate action.

WHAT IF SOMEONE IS PARKING IN MY SPACE?(Updated 7/2/07) Residents may tow unauthorized vehicles that are parking in their assigned parking spaces by calling AA Wheat Towing at (510) 792-1900. (Please note that you will need to meet with the towing company onsite and sign their required paperwork before the vehicle will be towed.) However, before towing a vehicle that is parked in your assigned parking space without your permission, it is strongly suggested that you attempt to locate or contact the vehicle owner. It is also suggested that you place a note on the vehicle letting the vehicle owner know that they are parked in an assigned parking space and if the vehicle continues to park in your assigned space, it will be towed.

If you have any questions regarding a vehicle in a "Guest" space, please send an e-mail to Andalusia Parking, or feel free to contact the Association Manager at CMS.

MISSED RECYCLE OR GARBAGE PICKUP If you need to call Allied Waste Services to schedule a pickup of containers that were not emptied on the regular (Thursday) service day, please call 510-657-1350 after 6PM any evening, and leave a message with your name and address. When Allied Waste arrives in their office the next business morning, they will pick up that message and schedule an additional pickup for later that day.

You may also contact Allied Waste's Customer Service department through their Web site.

As a reminder, the only 4 days out of the year that Allied Waste doesn't pick up your trash and recyclables are the Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day holidays. During the weeks that contain one of these holidays, collection takes place one day later for the remainder of the week up to, and including, Saturday.

Please view the Community Calendar for upcoming events and current reservations of the Recreation Center.

PLEASE SLOW DOWN when driving in the complex! And be especially careful at the entrance to the complex - treat this as a 4-way intersection, and be aware of cars coming from all directions.
